Location_ Ministero de Fomento, Madrid, Spain
Design Company_Asymptote Architecture
Architect/Desiner/AD_ Lise Ann Couture and Haru Rashid

Design display space for architectural images. Asymptote tried to increase the gallery’s minimal space by adding three-dimensional volumes enhanced by light and sound. The images are exhibited on the surface of large translucent modules, protruding from a backlit panel into the viewer’s space. The result is an illusion of floating images. Each exhibited piece are accompanied by abstract sounds, which adds to the unique atmosphere of each peace of work.

Cepezed Envisions Modern Colosseum

The Delft, The Netherlands-based cepezed architects have developed plans for a large temporary theatre on the Malieveld in The Hague, a large stretch of lawn measuring over 10 hectare and positioned right along the entrance of the city. The theatre has been designed as a contemporary version of the Colosseum in Rome, the best-known example of a Flavian amphitheatre, and should be able to accommodate some 5.000 people.

The Hague strives to be European Capital of Culture in 2018.

The theatre should function as an important eye catcher and crowd puller during this year.

Botschaft der Dinge by Hamann-Projekte

This exhibition of the Museum für Kommunikation in Berlin and decodes the “message of things”. The Things are everyday objects which we are actually familiar with but, here, appear strange and alienated. The symbolic power which marks communication between people and objects is the central theme. Visitors encounter alien aluminium constructions with telescopic legs standing in the exhibition rooms. Coloured light is radiated outwards, sound and smells come from the inside.
